A dog that is no longer `yours' may be converted back by throwing
food at it (throwing tripe rations is best). [Hack 1.0.3]

>How do you wield a cockatrice without getting turned into stone
>yourself?

Wear gloves. Beware stairs, however: if you `fall down the stairs'
you will `accidentally' touch the cockatrice and turn to stone.

>How do you get past invisible force fields?

Perhaps you have a different version of hack; we have no force fields.

>What do you do when an eel is attacking you from the water (you can't
>attack back, because the eel might swim away and you'd drown yourself)?

Watch carefully, and you will see a `;' character blink at the
point from which the eel is attacking. If the eel just hit you,
it is still there. Also useful are rings: See invisible will let
you see the eel at all times; levitation will let you float above
the water, so that you will not drown. Potions of levitation will
do the same, but of course will also wear off. You can evaporate
water with wands of fire: this is overkill for eels, but useful at
level 40 when trying for the Amulet.

There are two conditions under which this message can be encountered.
Both require that you be trying to go to a "new" level:

	- if disk quotas are exceeded. or

	- (more likely) if the directory hack is currently in is
	  not writable.

(Yes I did snoop through the source.... it's in hack.do.c)
