This has occured only that once (to me at least) and I wonder >whether it is a bug or a feature? It seems if you take too long before knocking off the Wizard of Yendor, he starts teleporting up levels - and you only get one hit on him each level. The easy way is to defeat the wizard is throw a tripe ration to the hound and start in on the Wizard. I've had a few odd occurrences with the Wizard. One: I used a wand a fire to dry up some of the moat on the left side of the 'vault'. I then opened up the wall in two adjacent places. As soon as the Hound was in view I tamed him with a tripe ration. I let him hop around a bit so he'd get out the way and I could go after the Wizard. He brought me the Amulet!!! I grabbed it, and got the message: "You have an uncanny feeling that someone is watching you." I proceeded to go after the Wizard and trounced him. Two: I again went in the left end of the vault and tamed the Hound. As I stepped up to the Wizard he "makes a gesture and curses." Then he hit me. This happened a few more times. I killed him, but my luck was trashed. Had to feed some some unicorns before I could use a wand of wishing again. At least trying a wand of wishing when your luck is too low doesn't waste a wish. What did I do to deserve this treatment? Dave Fox ..!ptsfa!df
