before the neat new trick I found, a few "tips"
first, the only time eating a dead acid blob does anything to you is
if you are in the process of turning to stone. EATING ONE AHEAD OF
TIME DOES NOT AFFECT ANYTHING!! (except that it is poisonous).
In case no one has mentioned it, eating a nurse, human, or dog will
aggravate monsters for good.
With regard to a previously posted list of edible things, everything seems
fine...just two additions (ones the author hadn't tried) - dead minotaurs
are fine to eat (quite filling, too!) and dead unicorns (God forbid you should
kill one!) will make you feel sick.
Now, regarding wishing for the Amulet of Yendor...you can actually escape
the game with the *REAL* Amulet of Yendor without descending into the maze
AT ALL!!! All you need is a wand of wishing...and...a wand of polymorph.
If you wish for the Amulet, it will give you what looks like the Amulet of
Yendor, but if you use a scroll of identify (or if you escape), you will
find that it is merely a cheap, plastic imitation. However, if you POLYMORPH
your cheap imitation, it becomes the real thing!!!!!!!!!!
Couple this with someone's absolutely brilliant trick of polymorphing wands
until the cows come home and storing up a huge mass of wands of wishing and
you could get millions of points AND escape with the REAL amulet without
even getting below level 10!!!!!
