Spanish and Latin American calendares start the week with lunes (Monday) and end with domingo (Sunday), making sunday the seventh day. I'd suspect that this would be the same in other romance languages (it is in Italian). With the week starting on Monday, Sunday is the seventh day. rick

The reason for worshipping on Sunday is the celebration of the Resurrection, which is recorded as having occurred on "the first day of the week". I do not understand Sunday to be the "Christian Sabbath"; I do not observe the Sabbath for the same reason that, for instance, I do not have reservations about eating pork: I am not Jewish. Granted, the idea to set aside one day a week may well have come from the habit of Sabbath observance; but the commemoration of the Resurrection is quite distinct from the observance of the Sabbath.
