Responses to the Unix Kermit 4.0 announcement have started to come in.
As many of you pointed out, the makefile (ckermi.mak) did not work
"out of the box", due to some last minute name changes.  The errors were
obvious, and most people got around them.

There have been tentative volunteers to take care of support for various
systems.  Volunteers for systems not listed here should contact me so I
can add you to this list, which will be kept up to date in KER:CKWHO.TXT
on CU20B.  If you're interested in contributing to any of the implementations
listed below, be sure to coordinate with the contact, cc to me.

By the way, there's some question as to whether UUCP line locking can

Quite a number of new Kermits have arrived in recent weeks, but have not
yet been installed for distribution.  They will be installed and announced
over the next week or two.  Here is a list:

. Alpha Microsystems AM-1000, AM-100L and ELS super-micro systems, written
  in Alpha Micro 68000 assembler (which is different from the Motorola
  assembler) by Bob Rubendunst, Soft Machines, Champaign IL.

. A new release of Kermit for the Cray supercomputer from Leah Miller at
  Los Alamos National Laboratory.

. Sanyo MBC-550 support for MS-DOS Kermit, from Joe Smiley, Du Pont Co.,
  Wilmington DE.

. Burroughs 6800 Kermit from Scott Bertilson at Quest Research,
  Burnsville MN.

. The source for the FORTH version of Commodore-64 Kermit, from Bob
  Detenbeck at the University of Vermont.

. A new release of Harris 800 Kermit from Dave Wilson at University of
  Wisconsin.

. Fujitsu Micro-16S support for CP/M-86 Kermit from C. Barker at
  World Institute for Science & Technology, Long Island City NY.

. DG Dasher terminal emulation for MS-DOS Kermit from Duane Galbi,
  Maine-Endwell High School, Endwell NY.

. Kermit in SP/Pascal for DG AOS and AOS/VS systems, also from Duane Galbi.
