A couple of other festivals that come to mind are: Old Songs Festival Altamont NY (Fairgrounds) June 28-30 camping is available. This festival is work-shop oriented, and last year (ist time I've gone) there was a mix of Southern Appalachian, French Canadian, Irish, and New England folk styles; also a lot of crafts and instrument makers show their wares; also some exotic African music, old-time minstrel style music, and lots of excellent performances. Brandywine Mountain Music Festival held on a horse ranch a couple of miles west of Newark, Delaware July 12-14 This festival is jam-session oriented, and is largely dominated by Southern Appalachian "old-timey" styles; there is a continuous program of performances ongoing, but the real action is out in the campsites where you can easily find yourself playing alongside the likes of Allan Jabbour, Pete Sutherland, Mike Seeger, etc. Anyone wanting more details can write me at ihnp4!hou2a!hound!ganns or call (201) 949-03155 work, 389-2245 home. Also, May 31-June 2 the Passaic River Swamp Cats and Friends are having another old-timey weekend at a camp near Delaware Water Gap for hiking, swimming, canoeing, jamming, square dancing, etc. Anyone interested can contact me as above. These are FUN!! -- Rich
