Someone asked about Valdy a few weeks ago, but I didn't make a note of who it was, so I'm posting this, the first thing I've heard about him in at least seven years: He has a new album just out called "Notes From Places", which is on Duke Street records. According the The Toronto Star, it's "his first adult album in four years." Unfortunately, I'm not sure whether the Duke Street label exists outside of Canada, and if not, I don't know whether the album has been picked up by any labels outside of Canada. (probably not) For those of you who live near enough to Toronto, he will be performing at Ontario Place next Thursday (May 23) at 8:30. At Ontario Place, you don't have to worry about buying your tickets in advance because you can't. Park admission (which was $4 last year) on the day of the concert allows you to attend the concert for free, and seats are allocated on a first come first served basis, but if they're all taken when you get there (probably unlikely for Valdy), you can watch from the grass. Ontario Place is on the lake immediately south of the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) and a few kilometres west of downtown Toronto. Enjoy the show. -- Jeff Richardson, DCIEM, Toronto (416) 635-2073 {linus,ihnp4,uw-beaver,floyd}!utcsrgv!dciem!jeff {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!dciem!jeff
