///// Let me add a few thoughts on things.... A. I agree that adding a new group would be cumbersome but IFF it the volume became excessive then it is appropriate. B. Yes, there is much going on in the Church much of which will be difficult to sort out for the RC's let alone outsiders, especially after the secular press gets through with it. But I think that we can discuss it here. HOWEVER!!! When a Catholic gives an opinion that is JUST opinion it should be labeled as such but when evidence or authority is needed then it should be cited. This is for good example to the non-RC's to let them have the official teaching and to let ALL research. Now... One other reason we don't allow indiscriminant communion is that it is a sacrament and there are conditions which must be met on the proper reception of any of the 7 sacraments. It is a sin if one receives them in improper condition. Check any catechism for specifics. and There is the problem of the Divine Presence and proper line of ordination from the first bishops to current ministers/priests of non-communincant denomination s. AS I UNDERSTAND the problem... a priest MUST trace his powers through a bishop who is in line through a series of bishops to the apostles. My Episcopalean friend says his church recognizes our Mass and Eucharist as valid. We do not recognize theirs since BECAUSE of their change in the rites of ordination. The Roman Church re-ordains Episcopalean priests who enter the Roman Church. This has caused a certain amount of hurt feelings. You see only a VALIDLY ordained priest may consecrate. This is comparable to the teaching that ANY VALIDLY baptized Christian may baptize. We recognize other denominations Baptisms as sacramentally valid since their FORM of the sacrament is valid. (HEH HEH that means most any of us is a theological threat to an atheist when we are carrying a glass of water :-) ) BTW that is also the reason that a mixed marriage is sacramentally valid between two validly baptized Christians. The marriage partners ARE the ministers of matrimony not the priest. I must get the Encyclical which covers this problem. Steve do you have the reference handy??? Vince Marchionni P.S. I am not ashamed of Sr.Margaret McCeltic and her grade school and her devotion to teaching us. Annoyed at some attitudes yes. But these are best handled internally. As the author of Black Patent... said in a compliment... We came out better educated than half of what is walking the streets today. To reply to "Pax Christi" requires "Et cum spritu tuo". I wish I remember who signed it first.
