[net.religion.christian] Dramatis Personae

davis@hplabs.UUCP (Jim Davis) (02/13/85)

Hi. I had hoped that net.religion.christian wouldn't
turn into a flaming battleground. I really enjoy
reading (and not posting) to net.religion.jewish, but
I am losing that thrill in net.religion.christian.
I find that it gets too hard to tell who the players
are. Could we get a Dramatis Personae list? If I
had a ~300 character self description of the contributors
then I could read these missives without continually
wondering, "Who does this person think she is?" I'll
even volunteer to post the first such list if nobody
flames me too badly. Send ~300 characters including
your name and I'll put them together and out iff (<=intended)
I get 10 or more such entries. I do tend to get lost
in articles with descendants that stretch back great
numbers of submissions.

Ah well, I guess I set the limit too low. I have received 2
responses so far. The first used 730 characters in his
self-description and the second 1405. I had hoped for short
descriptions; but that can't be done sight unseen. I didn't
even see a "Dramatis Personae" list as being useful until
it had had a chance to "relax" (a technical term, meaning go
through all of the iterations caused by its own changes) so
here is the first rule change: 1500 chars will be allowed
in the self description. Remember, so far this only matters
vis-a-vis this group, so no need to demonstrate Unix competence,
etc. I regret doing this as I had envisioned entries like
mine (attached below) and not missives, but I have underestimated
how many characters it takes to say anything.

My thanks to the two who have replied so far. With eight
more I'll have a monkey on my back. Otherwise, I'll know
that it simply doesn't matter to anyone else. Here's my
198 characters.
