Hi, For years it's bothered me that I am to fear the Lord and love Him all at the same time. So finally I grabbed my trusty concordance and my New American Bible, and looked up `fear'. The word appears in the NAB 454 times. I found 2 kinds of fear - fear of God and human fear. There were lots of great passages, but these particularly hit me: Fear of God --- Prov 8:13 "The fear of the Lord is to hate evil ..." Prov 1:7 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; wisdom and instruction fools despise." Sirach 1:12 "The beginning of wisdom is fear of the Lord, which is formed with the faithful in the womb." Human fear --- Prov 29:25 "The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the Lord is safe." Isaiah 51:12-13 "I, it is I who comfort you. Can you then fear mortal man, who is human only, to be looked upon as grass, and forget the Lord, your maker ..." Isaiah 41:13 "For I am the Lord, your God, who grasp your right hand; it is I who say to you, "Fear not, I will help you." Isaiah 43:5 "Fear not, for I am with you ..." From Jesus, regarding human fear --- Mark 5:36 "...`Fear is useless. What is needed is trust.' " Like I said, there is lots more. God Bless All of you and your families, Happy Easter - PTL!
