Many years ago I saw a circuit for a flourescent light driver that did NOT use any ballast - I believe it has a hf oscillator instead. The kicker is - and this is what I am now after - it also allowed the flourescent light to be dimmed. Unfortunately I didn't copy the circuit, but now find myself in need of a flouro-dimmer.
