I've been reading alot of news on the net about the Charismatic
Movement. Here are some of my thoughts on the subject.
Speaking in tongues was used by the early church as a sign to
help the church spread the gospel message. But today this is not
necessary because we have the scriptures as our authority from God.
I too (as Paul DuBois made reference) am a fundamentalist but I do not
have or need the charismatic gifts. I believe that there is even a danger
in this type of experience. If we look at history, during the time of the
Reformation, Luther struggled with the same problem, was salvation a result
of Christs work FOR us or a result of Christs work IN us. I believe the former
is true, but todays charismatic movement is placing more emphasis on the
subjective rather than the objective work of Christ.
Any comments???
