-- I was having a generic dinner conversation with some friends and the topic turned to religious ritual. One (raised a Catholic) was describing what Communion wafers looked like, and mentioned that there was usually a pattern impressed into them. The other (an ardent numismatist) immediately wondered what sorts of patterns are in use, whether they are like ones that have been in use, whether there are any particularly rare ones or commemorative impressions--all the questions you'd expect from a guy obsessed with ancient coins. Well, the ex-Catholic couldn't remember anything about the patterns (except that they were there), and the numismatist and I are both Jews. So, I said I'd ask the net. I have to admit, I've become quite curious about this myself. -- *** *** JE MAINTIENDRAI ***** ***** ****** ****** 03 May 85 [14 Floreal An CXCIII] ken perlow ***** ***** (312)979-7188 ** ** ** ** ..ihnp4!iwsl8!ken *** ***
