Hi, Thank God my cousin Fr. Bob McCahill is alive and well. My aunt and uncle got a letter from him late last week. Seems it took 4 weeks to get here. Apparently he had been called to a meeting of some sort in Red China, so he wasn't even there when the tidal wave hit. By now he's probably back in Bangladesh. Please keep him and all the people of Bangladesh in your prayers. According to Bob, they're a hardy people. He admires the Moslem people there. His way of teaching others about Jesus is to live like Jesus wants him to. He helps the sick get medical treatment, pays for their medications with donations, and has broken the barrier Moslems have against white foreigners, especially as relates to their women. They know that he'll treat the sick without being bribed, and that he and the priests that he works with respect their women. He doesn't offer public Masses, he just lets people know he is living the way his God Jesus wants him to. That's why bribes aren't necessary and he can be trusted like a member of the family. He and the other 2 priests live in the same poor housing, a metal shack that they rent, eat the same foods, work in the same fields. Bob's been living there for the last 6 or 7 years. Bob had even written an article that just appeared in this month's Maryknoll magazine (nice little publication), before the tidal wave. Thank you all for your prayers and support! God Bless you ALL. Mike Andrews P.S. My wife is pg with our first child. Any prayers will be gratefully accepted. P.P.S? The daughter of a friend of mine just survived an avalanche while climbing on Mt. Raineer.
