Then I have to > ask: > WHY DO ATHEISTS/"MALTHIESTS" INSIST ON POSTING TO THIS NEWSGROUP!?! > If these people don't believe in GOD or any Superior Being, why can't > they be content with their belief without imposing it on others > (especially in a newsgroup created for those "others")? I read this > newsgroup to hear discussion about the Bible, other religious beliefs, > or Christian opinions in general. I do not read it to be convinced or > unconvinced about whether GOD exists. > Maybe a new newsgroup should be created - net.religion.unsure. > This would be a better place to try and form peoples opinions. > I don't mean to offend, but I really don't understand this kind of > discussion in this newsgroup! Reading net.religion.christian is rather depressing to me because I do not profit from the discussions such as political-useful theologies, Matthew vs. Luke's geneologies, anthropocentralism (?), etc. I just don't glean any practical application to living a ``CHRIST-LIKE'' life from reading this newsgroup. I would think a small subset of discussion would be on the topic of living a Christ-like life, because isn't that supposed to be the desire of a person who professes to be a Christian? I mean there certainly isn't a lot of discussion about biblical passages ... "All Scripture is inspired by God and PROFITABLE for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for TRAINING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS; that the man of God may be adequate, EQUIPPED FOR EVERY GOOD WORK." (2 TIM 3:16-17) ... or about living an obedient Christian life ... "And by this we know that we have come to know Him, IF WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS. The one who says, `I have come to know Him,' and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;" (1 John 2:3-4) ...and there certainly isn't an over-abundance of discussion about how to better glorify God and Jesus Christ ... "Whether, then, you eat or drink or WHATEVER you do, DO ALL TO THE GLORY OF GOD." (1 Cor 10:31) Don't get me wrong, some topics that are discussed are important. However, I just perceive an unbalanced discussion that is heavily tilted to the pursuit of intelligensia rather than to the seeking God and HIS wisdom. "But seek *first* His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you." (Matt 6:33) "Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually."(1 Chron 16:11) "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;" (Proverbs 1:7) Paul Rupsis
