We're about to buy homeowners insurance, and are considering State Farm and Allstate. We've always dealt with State Farm before, and have had excellent results. But Allstate has this "guaranteed complete replacement" policy which State Farm doesn't. It seems like a win to me (although admittedly the chances of ever cashing in on it are pretty slim) but Consumers Reports rates Allstate well below State Farm in handling of claims. I'd appreciate any information from anyone who has filed a claim with Allstate about how well their claim was handled, and in general how satisfied they are with Allstate. Also, if anyone knows whether the Allstate rates tend to go up faster than other companies (their initial rate quote was about $12/year less than State Farm) I'd like to hear about that. Any and all advice by mail is welcome. Mark
