Hi,
In case any of you have had the same difficulties with `fear of the
Lord' that I have, here's some interesting info ---
In the Roman Catholic version of the Bible, the word `fear' appears
454 times. After looking up a bunch of the references found in the
trusty old concordance I found two very distinct types of fear: fear of
the Lord, and human fear. The two verses that said the most to me are:
Proverbs 8:13 "The fear of the Lord is to hate evil"
Proverbs 29:25 "The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the
Lord is safe."
There are lots of other good verses, of course. In Mark 5:36 Jesus said
"Fear is useless. What is needed is trust."
The one verse that I really enjoy is Isaiah 41:13 "For I am
the Lord, your God, who grasps your right hand; It is I who say to you,
`Fear not, I will help you.' "
If you're interested in looking some others up:
Prov 1:7 Sir 1:12,16 Prov 9:10 Ps 111:10
Job 28:28 Jer 5:22 Is 51:12-13 Ps 56:5
Ps 118:6 Is 43:1 Is 43:5
Sir is the Book of Sirach, not found in some Bibles. A lot like the
Book of Wisdom and the Book of Proverbs.
Sir 1:12 "The beginning of wisdom is fear of the Lord,
which is formed in the faithful in the womb."
Sir 1:16 "Wisdom's garland is fear of the Lord, with blossoms
of peace and perfect health."
Enjoy and God Bless,
Mike Andrews

God said He would never leave me nor forsake me, and that I am His temple.
A man is what he thinks.
A body led by the soul is only 2/3 of a person : the soul tries to get rid of
the spirit.
A body led by the spirit is a whole person : the spirit works to make the soul
help the body. And a spirit led by God the Holy Spirit is invincible.
