[net.misc] Good book on Time

doug (08/01/82)

I got a copy of Jerry Schwarz' recommended book, The Physics of Time
Asymettry. It is good. Another one by the same author which I found
is "Space and Time in the Modern Universe". This one is less mathematical,
and thus readable by anyone. His explanations are really good. He doesn't
seem to leave explanations dangling. For example, when he is explaining
the so-called "Twin Paradox" he doesn't just say, "well it's due to
the asymettry caused by accerations". He actually goes ahead and creates
an example, with numbers, that explains things really well.

Every home should have one.

By the by, how about a net.physics where we could talk about all this
neat, cosmic stuff, pass interesting references back and forth, answer
questions, ask stupid questions, etc?
