[net.religion.christian] Receiving God's Gifts /// And a proverb on Man and Suffering

ptl@fluke.UUCP (Mike Andrews) (11/23/85)

Hi,

Lately I've been reading a book by Norman Vincent Peale called
"Positive Imaging". It is an excellant book on the power our
images have over us and situations. It is important to not take
this thought so far as to say we create by ourselves what happens;
God is in the creating business. But it is very true our images, or
thoughts, greatly influence our responses, which do have direct impact
on most everything, even on just how much God can work in our lives.
Do you see Him as someone who cares for you? Wants only the very
best for you, *and* wants you to give your very best? Do you see yourself
growing -- in patience, Love, trust, Faith, ..... ? Ask God for these
Gifts then see yourself receiving and using these Gifts the way they
are meant to be -- for our growth in Love, which is the Glory of God.
He said to ask and we'd receive. And if we see ourselves,
that is believe, have Faith, that we've received these Gifts as promised,
they are ours to be used.

Something as far as man and suffering goes. The book mentions a
Russian proverb - "A hammer shatters glass but forges steel."
Something to think about.

God Bless,

Mike Andrews (PTL)

P.S. Did it snow here yesterday! Up to 14 inches in some places.
Is this Seattle? It should be raining! (I love the rain.
	Yes, I was born here.)

God said He would never leave me nor forsake me, and that I am His temple.

A man is what he thinks.

A body led by the soul is only 2/3 of a person : the soul tries to get rid of
			        the spirit.
A body led by the spirit is a whole person : the spirit works to make the soul
help the body. And a spirit led by God the Holy Spirit is invincible.
