[] Does anybody out there have experience with programming the Zilog 8530 in the Mac for high speed synchronous serial I/O? What data rate can the Mac actually handle for communications protocols requiring a limited amount of CPU intervention? Has anybody tried protocol conversion say from DEC DDCMP to SDLC or bisync? For that matter, does anybody have any word on what Apple's protocol will look like and what data rate it will support? Lastly, does Inside Macintosh have enough information (in conjunction with an 8530 data sheet and ap notes) to do this sort of thing in with a reasonable amount of effort? I'll summarize to the net if the response is sufficient. Thanks in advance. Ralph Stirling Purdue University EE Dept.
