From: Emil Rainero <emil> On excellent use of the ramdisk is editing the two font disks. Put finder, font mover and a system file on the ramdisk, make it the boot disk by holding option-cmd and double clicking on finder. Now copy over a font file to the ramdisk, eject your disks, and click on the font file on the and click on the font file. They install and delete all fonts. Then select the font you want, copy it to the font file, delete it from the system file and quit. The original font file now contains only the font just copied over from the system file. Rename it to the name of the font. From now on, just click on font mover and repeat the (select, copy, delete, quit) cycle and font mover will create a file called fonts that you rename to the font name. I pulled out each font into a different file so I can easily get to whatever font I am interested in. One pain is that some font files on the original disks are locked, so deleting them from the ramdisk is bit of a pain. Does anyone out there have program demos that handle * multiple windows * moving graphics * simple desk accessories (calculator, key caps) I'll even expand upon this. It is time to see what people are writing out there. Send me whatever little hacks, programs, accessories, utilities, wish list programs you have/would like to see. I'll gather up what I get and post it when I get enough replies. Think about what software the mac needs and could done by someone in a reasonable amount of parttime hacking. Too many people are rediscovering the mac universe. Inside mac may not be affordable by all but its information should reach those experimenting with memory just to find out the arguments to ScrollRect. Send what questions you have and I will post the list of questions and what answers I can round up so that at least we can get the net community to share their knowledge and keep the information in several rather than 100 articles.
