[net.micro.mac] Ordering Apple Macintosh Products from PC Network

fine@psuvax1.UUCP (Steve Fine) (12/07/84)

When ordering Apple Mac products from PC Network, don't bet the bank that
they will arrive on time.

A friend ordered MacPascal and was told it would take a week and a half to
arrive. Four weeks later he cancelled the order.

I ordered an external disk drive and was told it would be delivered in three to
four weeks. Six weeks later I cancelled the order.

I've also ordered some stuff from PC Network (for my PC), and got it
eventually, but it took some badgering. They seem to have a tremendous
backlog of orders, because their customer service line is always busy
(it took me 2 days to get through at one point). Once you get through
they're fairly helpful, but it takes a while. They're cheap (but not as
cheap as they look after you add the 8% above "cost"+3% credit card+2%
shipping)but expect a few hassles...
