First Comics has announced that they will be releasing a new comic book in
February. This comic will be completely produced (except for coloring) on
an Apple Macintosh, using MacPaint and MacDraw software. Artist Michael
Saenz and writer Peter Gillis describe the comic as the story of a
21st-century policeman dealing with corporate corruption and a mechanized
society. This is the first time a computer has been used for any aspect of
comic art (not including animation), and it should certainly be an
interesting experiment to see how this works. If popular, then the easier
(to my mind) method of drawing through the Mac opens up a range of
opportunities for commercial art for those who normally don't have artistic
skills.
