[net.micro.mac] archiving Mac sources

chuqui@nsc.UUCP (Chuqui Q. Koala) (01/06/85)

Well, while the argument about all.sources.mac goes on, I'm going to bite
the bullet and start an official Mac software archive for usenet. I've got
a fair amount of the stuff from the net archived by now, all I really need
to do is catalog it, and I'm willing to keep track of stuff and
redistribute it as needed. I don't have access to the ARPA archives, so
perhaps someone out there who does would like to cooperate with me on this
to make sure that all of that stuff does get down here eventually. I will
be keeping the archive on my Mac, and I will send out catalogs on a
continuing basis. I'll also post certain software (such as BinHex, macput,
macget, and the like) on a semi-regular basis based on requests since we
will have (I hope!) a regular influx of new people who will need it.

Anyway, expect a catalog one of these days. If you have been archiving
software or have software that you would like to make available to the net,
drop me a note so we can see if I already have it. If there are people out
there keeping an eye on Compuserve, you should consider downloading
anything you see of interest there as well.

This is a function I hope the moderator of mod.sources.mac would do, if we
can ever agree to do anything at all. If/when that does come to pass, I'll
be more than happy to let them take over the archiving...
