Hi everyone, Well for those of you that are interested, I completed the upgrade described in the Doctor Dobbs Journal (January). I had a few problems, nothing fatal, just a few patches I forgot to make, but it all came out great! It was a lot easier than I though it was, but more tedious. For those of you still interested in the upgrade there are three options that you may go: 1. Get upgrade from Apple for $600 ( they just lowered there prices) safest, yet most expensive. 2. Buy chips cheap, then send them with logic board to Masstech this would cost about $215 dollars for the chips + $150 dollars for Masstech assembly. I would have done this, and I recomend them, I have not heard anything bad about them. 3. Buy chips cheap, install them yourself about ($220)+ time. Safe if you know what you are doing, for me it was a first project (really!), Only problem is finding the 74AS253 chip. I used a 74LS253 and it is working fine. If anyone wants more information on this method you can write me. Something may be arranged with SD mac users to do a group upgrade together. The cheapest place to get the 256k chips is Microprocessors Unlimited. Here are the addresses of Masstech and Microprocessors Unlimited: Masstech Developement Labs Microprocessors Unlimited 451 Boston Road 24000 S.
