A comment on the current (?) discussion on determinism and free will:
What is free will? It is easy enough to define determinism, so as
to properly discuss its implications, etc, but before we consider
seriously the issue of free will, we must define what we mean by
this term. Socrates said that nine-tenths of any discussion can
be eliminated by properly defining one's terms. This advice should
be seriously considered by those who would carry on metaphysical
debates such as this...
