[net.micro.mac] Idea for desk accessory

A recent posting on fa.info-mac from winkler@harvard inquired about
the availability of a Hebrew font. I've seen such fonts advertised
(in MacWorld, for example), but always with the disclaimer "right-
to-left word processor not included."

While it wouldn't be a full substitute for semitic wp, I can imagine
a desk accessory that would make typing Hebrew phrases (or even short
documents) tolerable. Is it possible to construct a desk accessory
that reverses the order of typing? That is, after each character typed,
it moves the insertion point to its former location (which would now
be to the left of the inserted letter). What this actually implements
is right-to-left, bottom-to-top wp, so be careful around line breaks.

An alternative approach would be for the DA to buffer keystrokes until
a return or enter or whatnot, then paste the reversed string into the
current application.

Are there any Mac hackers out there interested in taking on this challenge?
Can anyone tell me if it's even possible for a DA to fix up the typing order
in the active application?

What would be nice is a desk accessory called "Raid" (or some similar name).

You know what it would do.

(Of course, you could remove the original DA, but
that would take away what little humor exists in the humdrum serious world
of computing.)
