Our Mac has exhibited a strange problem. We made backups of the system and macWrite/MacPaint disks so that our users could demo/evaluate the programs without permenantly erasing something. All was fine for 2 weeks. Then the system disk copy began exhibiting strange behavior whereby the name field of the disk icon would become filled with a's and r's and the keyboard would lockup. When I put the original system disk in to try to erase the backup and make another copy the problem migrated to it also. Then, to make matters worse, we tried the MacWrite/MacPaint backup and it migrated there also. (Sound like a keyboard pia problem??? Any ideas?? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Gerry Santoro Microcomputer Information and Support Center GMS @ PSUVM (bitnet) Penn State University !psuvax1!santoro (UUCP) 101 Computer Building santoro @ penn-state (CSNET) University Park, PA 16802 (814) 863-4356

[Aren't you hungry...?] Disk heads need to be cleaned once in a while - particularly so in the Mac which provides no airflow, resulting in dust collection. This may not help, but it sounds like your disk heads may have problems. Jon Shapiro
