[net.micro.mac] Which color monitor for my Mac?

jww@bonnie.UUCP (Joel West) (02/06/85)

I have a Macintosh on my desk at home. Next year I suspect it will be replaced
by a color Mac. However, this year I have to buy a new TV set for my living
room and would like to get one that (might) be compatible.

Since there is no color Mac yet, this is pure speculation but from what I know
the characteristics of the proper monitor are roughly as follows:
	- RGB input
	- 342 (v) x 512 (h) resolution
	- 23 mHz bandwidth
	- 60 Hz non-interlaced display
	- 8 colors (black,white,red,green,blue,cyan,magenta,yellow)

I'd also like composite video input so I can use my VCR video output to drive it
as a TV. 25" is preferrable but 19" might be ok. For domestic reasons I want
something made by a TV company (Sony, Fisher) not a monitor company (Amdek,
Princeton).

My TV dealer will sell me a Sony 25" ProFeel for $980. My questions are:
  (for Mac Hackers)
	- Are these characteristics correct?
  (for Video Hackers)
	- Which commercially available TV/Monitors are there that will support
	  these characteristics?

Any interesting responses I will summarize to the net.
