My company has provided me with a modem/terminal combination for my home. Now that I have a Mac/Imagewriter combo, however, I've run out of desktop, so the terminal is on the floor. I'd like to use my Mac to communicate with our UNIX mainframe, if possible using the same 1200 baud modem I'm currently equipped with e.g. a U.S. Robotics Password, which apparently is a Bell 212A protocol unit. Is there any terminal software for Mac that will let me do this? I'd like to get a vt100 emulation, or something similar. Thanks in advance for any help. --- das

MacTerminal emulates a VT100 very nicely. In fact, I am using it (with vi) to edit this note from home. The only thing in te way of terminal emulation the will be better than macterminal on the horizon, is a product from mainstay called TeleScape. Its a terminal emulator (vt100) that supports macros xmodem, and even has a programmable emulation table, so you can define your own terminal type if you like. There is also a way to define controls on the screen, so that if you want to define a frequently used command such as 'rn', you just have to click it on the screen to use it.... I saw a beta of this program a few weeks ago, its by far the BEST terminal emulator I have seen. I think its due out in a month or so. David Spector NYU/acf Sytems Group
