[net.micro.mac] Mac Questions

chuqui@nsc.UUCP (Cheshire Chuqui) (11/27/84)

As the proud owner of a new Mac, I've been catching up on the various
newsgroups. I've got a number of questions that I haven't seen answers to:

1) I'm using macterminal version 1.1. I can't seem to get the posted
versions of macput and macget to work. I haven't worked with it too much,
but has someone got these up and running? How should these things be used?

2) Does someone have the pinouts needed to make a cable to connect the
modem/printer port to a normal RS323 terminal line? I don't remember seeing
them in the documentation.

3) I'm looking for detailed info into programming the innards of the Mac.
Have these things been published anywhere yet? I currently have no
language, but I'm looking for a good C compiler now. I'll even pick up
MacPascal if it has the info on the insides of the machine.
suggestions,pointers?

4) Any recommendations on good C compilers?

5) Anyone out there have any good applications/programs they want to share?
I've got an archive of net.sources, but not fa.info-mac or net.micro.mac
(until now).

6) Anyone have a date when Wizardry will be available?

7) Anyone out there use Macproject? How well does it work?

thanx, as they say, in advance.

A friend of mine is purchasing a Mac in a couple of days and has a few
questions:

         1) Where can I find the cheapest 256K chips (I plan on
upgrading when the warranty runs out or I feel like
                gambling).

         2) Where can I get Inside Mac, how much does it cost,
and what do I get for my money?

         3) Where do I get information about public domain software
                available for the macintosh?

         4) Will a cheap 1200 baud modem (I saw an advertisement for
one at $230) work with MacTerminal? Do I need special
                connectors?

If I get sufficient response, I'll post a summary...

Thanks for your time.
