[net.micro.mac] Lisa or MacXL & UNIX

chag@ucsbcsl.UUCP ( ) (02/12/85)

Has anyone on the net ever used an UNIX on a Lisa 2/10 or as it is
now reportedly called, the Macintosh XL? I have heard that at least one
company is now offering UNIX on the Lisa 2/10. Does anyone have any comments
on the performance of UNIX on the Lisa, or any information on different
implementations?

				Thanks,

UniSoft Systems (where I work) has done a UNIX port to the Lisa 2/10, now
called the Macintosh XL. This is what we call Uniplus+ (UNIX plus our
enhancements). Information and distribution is handled by Unipress Software,
a UNIX software distributor:
	Unipress Software
	2025 Lincoln Hwy.
	Edison, NJ 08817

	Telephone: 201-985-8000
	Telex: 709418
This is a System V release. A nice option is our B-NET enhancement. This
provides the UC Berkeley IP/TCP protocols, great for downloading (or
uploading) files!

Obviously my opinion is biased, so I'll defer to others about the quality of
Uniplus+.

Also, xenix is available for the Macintosh XL.
