I have just purchased a Radio shack direct connect modem, model DCM-3. It only cost $89 Canadian ( = $69 U.S. funds.). It is quit small in size (3/4*4*4) and the same colour as the Mac. It runs at 300 baud and has both answer/originate capability. It requires an RS-232 connector which must be wired to a male 9 pin ($ 3.00), as shown in most Mac books. All in all it is cheap, small, easy to operate and compatable with the Mac. Considering that the cheapest modem around these parts is $200 +, it seems like a good bye.
