Running compilers, I have found it very advantageous to put files on the grey part of the desktop. I put the compiler, linker, etc, out on the desktop so I don't have to open the window. I do my editting with Mockwrite, so the only time I launch an application is when I actually compile, link, or test the a.out. Returning to the finder goes MUCH faster if you only have the finder icons plus three or four files out. ZAP and you're back ready to pull down Mockwrite and go round again. So, unless Apple makes bringin up a window full of files as fast as bringing up the finder with only 2 or 3 files out on the grey gunk, I will continue to run finder 1.1g for as long as I can. -Mike O'Dell
