[net.micro.mac] FIles on the grey gunk

mo@seismo.UUCP (Mike O'Dell) (04/02/85)

Running compilers, I have found it very advantageous to put files on the
grey part of the desktop. I put the compiler, linker, etc, out on the
desktop so I don't have to open the window. I do my editting with
Mockwrite, so the only time I launch an application is when I actually
compile, link, or test the a.out. Returning to the finder goes
MUCH faster if you only have the finder icons plus three or four
files out. ZAP and you're back ready to pull down Mockwrite and
go round again.

So, unless Apple makes bringin up a window full of files as fast as bringing
up the finder with only 2 or 3 files out on the grey gunk, I will
continue to run finder 1.1g for as long as I can.
