A MESSAGE TO THE SWITCHERS

Dear Bug Hounds,

As you realize, the new Switcher by Andy Hertzfeld represents
a complex testing project. The number of configurations you
can choose and create is a very large number, probably on the
order of INF. It will be impossible for Apple to validate that
the Switcher works with everything. However, we intend to find
and remove any problems with the Switcher during the next month
or two and by making the Switcher available to you, we assure
that many more combinations will be tried.

I would like to emphasize the importance of detailing to us the
configuration you are using when you experience a problem. This
includes (but is not exclusive to) the following:

1. The applications you were using, including version numbers
where possible
2.  The version number of the Finder will be useful to us;
also, version numbers of printer drivers, et al. could be helpful
3. If you have the "Choose Printer" desk accessory check the
version number in the lower right corner of the dialog box, or
the "Create Date" in Get Info if there is no version number
3. The partition assignments for each application can be significant
5. Did you select saving screens? By clicking the Mac icon,
or setting in Configure then Install
6. If you used Configure then install, what configuration(s)
did you set up
7. What Options did you choose, "default" being a case
8. Of course, the hardware you are working with (128k, 512k
and MacXL) including type of printer, external disk, etc.

In describing bugs, please think in terms of procedures, as well
as "symptoms," or results. If you have a set of specific steps
that replicate the bug, please identify them as such and describe
them in as much detail as seems reasonable. Also, please note
if the bug occured immediately or if you had been working for
some time.

We need your help a great deal in this project if we are to succeed.
We will see that Andy is informed, and together we can help create
an exiting, useful application.
