[net.music] RAMONES tour itinerary, if there's anybody left out there

davidl@tekadg.UUCP (Dave) (11/28/84)

among all of you pathetic, cringing little milksops with your quizzes
and contests and Barry Manilow who will even listen to the RAMONES,
much less 76% Uncertain -

Nov. 29 Wankouver, B.C. - Commodore Ballroom
Nov. 30 Seattle - U. of Wash. Ballroom
Dec. 1 Eugene, Or. - U. of O. Ballroom
Dec. 3 Sacramento - Entertainment Factory
Dec. 4 San Jose - Cabaret
Dec. 5 Berkeley Square - Move your ass, Blabbette
Dec. 7 Las Vegas, U. of Nevada
Dec. 9 L.A., the Palace
Dec. 12 St. Louis, Missouri - Mississippi Nights
Dec. 14 Czechago - Embassy Ballroom
Dec. 15-16 Detroit - Traxx

As usual, I got this halfway through the tour, so... The Ramones
have a new album, Too Tough To Die, with some good stuff on it.
They're even safe for most of you preppie types out there, you can
everybody at the next wine-and-cheese party with how worldly you
are for having gone to a PUNK concert (snore) without having to
listen to anything that might disrupt the safe little mental castle
you live in.

I've never seen ANYBODY else put an itinerary on the net. WHY NOT???
I'll bet you're all too sudded out in front of your stereos to
even go LISTEN to any live music - deadheads excepted, of course,
but, even the deadheads just go to collect tapes anyway...
I've pretty well given up reading net.music; but I keep hoping to
do the bands a favor with these itineraries; maybe there's one
or two PEOPLE left out there among the yuppies and compunerds...
in any case, it gives me a chance to hurl all kinds of abuse.

OH... by the WAY... I can't BELIEVE the Offensive Lyric submissions
out there. If any of you had ever heard Tesco Vee, or Fang, or
the Feeders, you'd change your silly little Barbie-and-Ken minds
about what OFFENSIVE is.

(I haven't finished grading your last lesson, RLR. I'm flakey.)

DON'T SEE THE RAMONES - THEY'RE TERRIBLE.

Weak but loud punk music, a continuous drone puntuated every 2.2 minutes
with "won-too-three-four" from the bass player. Or maybe it was the guitar
player; the din was so loud I had to stand too far back to see the size of
the strings and the frenetic movement of his hand gave no clues.

And talk about ugly! No, I do not recommend seeing this band in the least,
and I particularly don't recommend seeing them at the Berkeley Square next
week (It is a small club and I don't want it to sell out on me)...

(read the following in your best southern drawl) Why I do declare
it looks like we have a budding fundamentalist preacher in our
midst. Salvation is at hand. Hallelujah I am saved brothers and
sisters. I say, I AM SAVED.

Depends on whether you are fond of their albums or not. DON'T go to a Ramones
concert without first listening to two or three of their early albums.

I've seen the Ramones twice, and will do so again, because I like their sense
of humour and Johnny's riffs. Many of their songs are extremely repititious,
being an extended riff + a few verses thrown in.

It helps to realize that they are musically closely akin to the Beach Boys,
which they themselves admit. Their most refined song (in the pop music
sense) is their version of "Needles and Pins".

"We ain't got no friends, our troubles never end,
No Christmas cards to send, Daddy likes men.
 We're a happy family, we're a happy family,
We're a happy family, me, Mom, and Daddy."
