I need some information on ways in which I can access some of the undocumented features of the Finder. I am specifically interested in finding a way to read, into my application, the information kept in the FCMT resource in the DeskTop file. The FCMT (Finder Comment) resource is the text that is displayed in the "Get Info..." dialog box. The FCMT resource itself is simply a pascal string. The problem is, that the FCMT resource's do not map directly to any FREF's in the DeskTop file. Therefore, I need to find out how I can map a particular FCMT resource to a particular filename. I'm pretty sure that the FOBJ DeskTop resource has something to do with this however it is, as far as I can tell, not documentated. Also, If anyone knows if Apple intends to change the way in which the FCMT information is organized with the new version of the Finder, I would also be interested in hearing about it. Obviously I realize that since this is not documented in Inside Macintosh it will probably change, however I would like to get the information anyways. Any ideas, thoughts or experiences relating to this problem, would be much appreciated. -- Steve Upp University of Chicago Computation Center ARPA: Staff.Steve%UChicago.mailnet@Mit-Multics.arpa Bitnet: supp%sphinx@UChicago.bitnet Mailnet: Staff.Steve@UChicago.mailnet UUCP: ...!ihnp4!gargoyle!sphinx!supp
