I recently ran across what must be a serious bug in WORD...
I was attempting to join the four LARGE RedRyder documentation files
into one WORD file. The four files were converted from their HEX format
to document format via BINHEX and were quite readable via WORD (which
indicated they were in MacWrite format and was converting them.)
I opened the first file, call it ONE. I the opened the second file called
TWO, selected the entire file TWO, CUT it out and PASTED it onto the
bottom of ONE.
We now have a VERY large clipboard and a very large file ONE. I
received an error message indicating that there wasn't much room on the
disk and I should SAVE and QUIT. Indeed, most of the FILE and EDIT menu
items were "dimmed."
The SAVE took a LONG time, and subsequent attempts to add the third input
file to the now-2-file-long file ONE caused WORD to sit there accessing
the disk about once per 15 seconds...
Does anybody have any idea WHAT WAS GOING ON? I'm not aware of any
restrictions on document size (except for the disk.)
