[net.micro.mac] MacNifier by Activenture: A Hacked "Expand-O-Vision"?

[Simple snap-on device makes your 2-bed ranch look like 4-bed colonial!]

In the June issue of MacWorld I	saw an ad for "MacNifier" by
Activenture. This device sounds (and looks) similar to	the TV
screen "expanders". ("Have a 19 inch picture from your	13 inch
tv!") I	suggest	anybody	considering this device	investigate the
reports	(in various consumer publications) for similar TV image
enlargers. (One such product is called	"Expand-O-Vision", or
something similar.) There are no electronics involved.	They
consist	of a sheet of magnifying material (Fresnel lens?)
supported in front of the screen. (If I remember, they	do
magnify	the image, but you must	be seated at the proper	angle to
prevent	"clipping" off the edges of the	image.	With a Mac, I
would be surprised if more than	one person would be able to view
the screen at the same time because of the narrow angle	involved.
With TVs, they tend to reduce the intensity of the image, which
can mean turning down the room lights to achieve a viewable
image.)
