Well, I've seen Cyrillic fonts and Hebrew fonts, but I have yet to see a Devanari Sanskrit font. Doesn't anybody on the net speak this popular language? (:-) If anybody has information about such a font, I would appreciate knowing about it. I would also be interested in a font with the appropriate diacritical marks for transliteration of Sanskrit (over bars, over tildes, over and under dots, accents). Thanks, Scott Anderson {ihnp4,lbl-csam}!oddjob!kaos!sra

I started a project two years ago to put a sanskrit font on the Lisa, to demonstrate multi-font capabilities on a bit-mapped computer. To my surprise, there has been considerable interest in continuing development in this area. A year ago Apple donated some computers to Prof George Hart in the Dept. of South Asian Studies at U.C. Berkeley after he submitted a proposal to further the work. He now has the following fonts available: Devanagari Tamil Tibetan You can get copies of the fonts along with further information by sending a check for $10 made out to "Regents of the University of California" to: Professor George Hart Dept. of South Asian Studies 1203 Dwinelle Hall University of California Berkeley, CA 94720 Also, if there is sufficient interest, I will post these fonts on the net. They are in the public domain, but may not be sold. Mark Cutter Author/Developer of MacDraw and LisaDraw Education Research Group Apple Computer Inc.
