[net.micro.mac] Two questions re 3.5" diskettes

[]
Not too long ago, someone introduced me to the Lisa's which are lying around
here so I could do some neat-o drawings. But then the ProFile filled up and
someone who knew how put my stuff on a diskette. After about 5 or 6 entries
of modest (10 -> 40) size, the Lisa is now telling me there is not enough
room on the diskette to open the file. The diskette attributes show 550+
blocks available.
	1) Why this malarkey? What is going on? How do I get to use all that
space? Presumably this question has been discussed and solved before.
Having had no previous occasion, this is my first entree into
net.micro.mac, so I've missed out. Can someone clue me in?

Well, tho't I, I'll just snag a blank diskette and stuff it into a handy Mac,
and let that idiot Lisa go hang itself. After all, I had been told that Macs
will automatically format virgin media. Instead, it flashed ???'s at me and
then spit the diskette back out. Hmm, says I. Perchance an already formatted
Lisa diskette? Well, the Lisa was equally impolite.
	2) How does one format diskettes under either system? Have I
	misunderstood the procedure?

I'd prefer e-mail'd responses. Much obliged.
