The last time lighting came through, it actually took my phone line out. It took about 2 inches of copper from both conductors out where it arced to a water pipe. Since I had pulled the power cords and unplugged the telephone wire from the modem, it did no damage. My AT&T telephones were not affected including a Nomad 4000. Note: I do benefit from the sale of AT&T telephones and urge everyone to buy a dozen :-)
