What little is interesting about this discussion is the emotionalism that has been evoked. Jo Jo was convicted of a "crime" similar to statutory rape. That is, he is a rapist only by fiat, not by act, because it is law that everyone becomes sexually responsible at the same fixed age (hence the term 'jailbait'). Yet the very word "rape" incites people to scream for blood.

Does Richard Getlak (mi-cec!rwg) really believe that having sexual relations with an unconscious 14-year old girl is a "crime only by fiat, not by act". If so, he is in a small (and I think rather strange) minority. The law calls it rape. The notion that an unconscious 14-year old girl is legally "sexually responsble" seems rather hard to justify. There lacks a certain element of consent. As to emotionalism, Getlak's contribution is by far the most emotional that has appeared on this net. The original complaint (by marys) was merely that he was being let out of jail under circumstances that seemed to many (including the governor of New Jersey) to be unjustified. Getlak speaks of "screaming for blood".
