A fellow graduate student, from Japan, has a friend from the old country who has a Macintosh, but no real access to any information resources on it. My fellow student asked me if I could help, and I thought I would post the questions to see what responses we could get. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 1) What Lisp's are available on the Mac? I have seen one message detailing Experlisp, are there others? What version of Lisp are they similar to (Inter, Mac)? What requirements do they have? 2) What is SUMacC, and what is the environment like? He says he is going to get it, but wants to know something about it. I don't even know *what* it is, but have formed a theory (from a few references to it) that it is Stanford University Macintosh C. Is this correct? What are the advantages/disadvantages of SUMacC from other implementations of C for the Mac? 3) How do you get around the copy protection on programs like FileVision? Before I get flamed, his question was how to avoid constantly swapping disks just to prove ownership. Is there a way? How about backup copies? Is there a utility, available either public domain or commercially that handles this? By the way, thanks to those who responded to the question about Mac books, I forwarded that information to him (as I will the info about the books just posted). The results of the survey were that Cary Lu's book about the Macintosh from Microsoft Press was good, and for detailed info, the Apple book Inside Macintosh was the way to go.
