Does anyone have experience with a DS/DD 800KB floppy drive? I have seen one advertised in the July MacWorld which is called the "HABA 800KB MAC ADD ON DRIVE". Questions: Who makes it? Is it still in production or is this a limited supply from a canceled project as I have heard rumored? Is it reliable, and is it warranteed? Thanks.

I searched BOTH the Advertiser and Product indices on pages 180-181 of the July issue of MacWorld and did not find a reference to the drive about which you seek information. However...judging from the name it sounds as if it might be a product of Haba Systems (the makers of any number of software packages). I recall them announcing such a disk drive. My best guess is that like so much of the advertisement that comes to our store, it is intended to merely generated orders by vendors and does not represent a product which can be had RIGHT NOW. By the way, we have now been given clearance by Apple to order for repair (i.e. upgrade ) purposes the new ROMS). I suspect that they will begin to be installed on a regular basis in the not too distant future since the new drives from Apple are expected soon. -- Eric Geoffrey Vann Analysts International (Chicago Branch) (312) 882-4673 ..!ihnp4!aicchi!egv
