[net.misc] Cobol-74 Compiler Version Out for Use in Unix Environment

NEW YORK - Advanced Computer Techniques Corp. (ACT) has announced a version
of its Full Ansi Cobol-74 Compiler for use in the Bell Laboratories 
Unix environment.
  The initial Unix version targets the Motorola, Inc. 6800 instruction set
and the compiler has been fully implemented in the Pascal language,
according to the vendor.  The product features Ansi Standard X3.23-1974,
and the nucleus and 10 function modules reportedly conform to the Level 2
standard.
  The modules include table handling, sequential I/O, relative I/O,
indexed I/o, sort/merge, segmentation, library, debug and interprogram
communications.  It also has a multipass design structure and object
code generation for commonly used Cobol statements.
  The compiler is priced at $230,000.  Further details are available from
