[net.micro.mac] PROBLEMS WITH SCREEN AFTER UPGRADE

Can somebody help me with the following problem:

I upgraded my Mac using the do it yourself method. Everything works fine with
one exception:  When using MacWrite I get black lines scrolling up the screen.
Whenever I press the mouse, the lines dissapear. The appearance of the lines
is unique to MacWrite.

Has anyone had something similar hapen? Any ideas, pointers.....?
