[net.micro.mac] Problems with MacTerminal 1.1

Yes Virginia, there are many bugs with MacTerminal 1.1. Perhaps the most
interesting is the one that mis-interprets a certain escape sequence sent
by the host to mean "Device Status Request". MT then responds with a
status report like the VT100. If you are running on a full-duplex host
such as UNIX, and the status string is echoed back to MT, it thinks that
its own status request is another request for status (another bug) and
proceeds to echo the status string again. Voila, instant infinite loop,
and MT locks up furiously sending and receiving its own data.

This problem was around in the pre-releases, and unfortunately made it
in to the released version. There are a few others such as the infamous
non-alphabetic-after-insert/delete-line-gobbler, but thats another story.

Personally, I use VersaTerm now at home, but I need MT at work to use the
LaserWriter. Then there's the bug that MT always prints in Helvetica or
Geneva (which are both proportional) on the LaserWriter so the columns
on the screen don't line up on the printout...
