Well, the good news is Apple's contractor has finally started to ship the new spiral bound manual for Macterminal. Mine arrived yesterday via UPS. I can only give you limited information because my package was slipped into my back yard where Rosie, my 70 pound Lab puppy was eagerly awaiting a new toy. From what's left, I see a _few_ added pages. They consist of 3 new appendices: MacTerminal as a VT100, a table of ASCII control characters, and pin assignments for the Apple modem. There's also a short section called 'a communications session'. Oh, the best part is a cute picture of the Mac and AppleLine on a computer room floor next to an IBM 3081. Has anyone actually seen the AppleLine or Cluster Controller marketed? Delivered with the manual was a sheet explaining there are some new features documented in the manual which will be available as an dealer update sometime in the fall. I did see one section on alternate character sets. The choices are US ASCII, UK ASCII, graphics, French, Spanish, German, and other languages + two buttons which are labelled 'Alt. ROM Graphics' and 'Alt. ROM'. Is this an indication we'll actually see the new ROM's in the future? My big question is how many months late will the program update be? Not flaming, just stating the facts. At any rate, yours should be arriving soon if you sent in your card. Enjoy it! -- Robert Cohen San Francisco, California {ihnp4,dual,qantel}!ptsfa!rhc

Sorry, no hope of new Apple ROMs for the Mac is added by this reference. John Duncan (mb2c!jed) Michigan Bell (313) 968-9002
