[you are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike]
I also have noticed rough edges in the Consulair EDIT released with MDS,
Aztec C (and surely every other), the IM Software Supplement, et al.
When I chose "Revert" recently, every subsequent "Save" behaved instead as
a "Revert" until I explicitly used "Save As ...". In addition, it sometimes
fails to update the screen properly; scrolling the offending region off, then
back onto the window fixes this.
This was the version of 28-Oct-84; I'm not aware of any more recent version.
Despite occasional glitches, I still use EDIT extensively: bundled with
Switcher, BinHex, and PackIt on my VersaTerm disk, it makes an excellent
upload-download system (download file-edit out garbage-binhex-unpack-
repeat as necessary) that leaves a drive free for files being converted.
On a related note: could some kind netter please mail me a copy of BinHex4
in .hqx format? Mine bit the bitbucket in one of those mysterious disk
failures ("I can't read this disk. Do you wish to format it?" Arrrggghhhh!)
while I had no backup; I've been using BinHex5 to convert downloads, but
can't upload without .hqx-generating capability. As Wimpy says, "I will
gladly repay you on Tuesday."
Much thanks,
---
